guest lecture at MSU

Proud to announce I will be guest lecturing at MSU / Bozeman. Giving some insite the junior design class on the re-brand and website build for Rockford Coffee. The new site recently went live and we had a corresponding ad in The Chronicle to inform the town of the new logo.

Looking forward to sharing some insite on working with clients / file structure / and helping the community. Creativity and communication folks, the most important asset we have as designers. Going to be fighting these kids for work in the near future.

EVENT : 9am MSU / Haynes Hall  senior design room

interesting appeal

Came across a pitch for printed matter while running through the GIANT ROBOT site. Seems paper and advertising is on everyones mind, well the need for it atleast. Both motivating and frightening to read. Though we had friends in higher places, our presence at SIA as one of the only standing newsprint underground publications was again, motivating and frightening. My family has been in the printed materials business since 1900. Can something so amazing and accessable rise and die in my lifetime. Paper or servers, its all burning something people. All I ask is you do it with pride and respect towards your output of paper and personal opinion.

GIANT ROBOT print pitch

an interesting rebuttal

You are a company and magazine that I hope to one day aspire to and this announcement broke my heart.

I will only donate my two cents.

The quality of your work and the image of your company was not reflected in your video. Boo! In this economy and in a country that felt cheated by a bank bailout, I think companies asking for handouts is really anti-America. You are in the creativity industry. The best you could do was sit in chairs and demand money? That was your best pitch? If you fail, you fail because you weren’t trying hard enough, not because you didn’t receive enough HELP. That’s capitalism. If the entire print industry is failing, then do SOMETHING DIFFERENT. You do have a loyal fan base so dare to be creative.

Wow, pull your head out of your ass. If people like you are ones who look up to us, then we’re wasting our time. I don’t want anyone like you reading my blog or my magazine. You don’t know shit about me, or us, and have no idea what you’re talking about. Are we really Anti America? Go fuck yourself.

Sorry for the foul language in the previous reply. The link seems to work fine though.

building blocks

Great bit of collaboration in the past week. From SIA and the connections and motivation, to the blight and being a part of it. I always wanted to work in the mill district again and we are making it happen. Thanks to Travis Anderson, Todd, Tyler and BOMBSsnow for making this happen collectively. Huge hand shake goes out to Todd at the Bozeman Brewery for keeping the ball rolling.

So, im over at Rockford doing some gallery research and drawing site plans for the new space. All to be announced on the 1st of March folks. Anticipation for you and literal for us, but building non the less.

Came across an image from the 2005 Deitch Projects show in NYC of Ryan Mcginnes. We were lucky enough to stumble across this show and see the visual onslaught that is Ryans’ work. Amazing production.

“KEEP LOOKING don’t settle”

Great words for all those whom are falling, but falling in the right direction. “You have got to find what you love… the only way to do great work, is to do what you love”. I was reminded of the TED conferences by a good associate.  Need to start everyday with motivation, back to building. Thanks for living Steve.

a temp review

Working hard the last few weeks. Multiple projects on the boards, but an emphasis on the re-brand of Rockford Coffee. Logo+signage+product+website. Decisions have been made and elements are being designed for a full unveiling in the new year. For the time being we have posted up a temp web page, leaking the logo and some elements for branding. Full visuals and details in the future. In the mean time stop by ROCKFORD and pick up some coffee for the holidays, along with a limited edition “crash sticker”.

oblique . . . or just tilted

italicPOSTER

Best comment ever…“Well. Technically, it’s an oblique poster. Just sayin.”

Found this via Trackosaurus rex via Big Chief. The Chief serves up some DIY from Italia.

FREEHUB magazine

Issue 4 is online and randomly representing the Memphis area. Not sure how he got a line on the Herb Parsons Trail, but that is about all they got down there. I have spent many a mile riding around that lake, year round no less. No luck for that up north, it just hit -20 last week and the biking is condensed to 5 blocks.

Hot damn.

I would drive to Oklahoma City to see that show.  Flaming Lips LIVE // New Years Eve.

From Memphis, probably not from Montana. Bit of a stretch in the winter, and I checked that road trip off the books last year. New Years Montana –  -twenty ten – –

crash proof coffee

Received the final print for the crash commemorative Rockford sticker, with printing by SCS vinyl works. Custom type based off of the Ford logo. Guess the word is out on redesign of the Rockford website, and Ryan was the one whom leaked it. Our pleasure Ryan, thanks for the trust.

Visit the current Rockford Coffee site for the mean time and order up some beans for the holidays, and stop by Rockford Coffee and pick up a free sticker and a warm drink. Hell it is -5 F out there.
