hit the road

With the convenience of a small town and a quick bike, gas prices haven’t caused too much concern here. I do feel for those manditory commuters. But, following the DDC Fall tour and making preperations for my winter cross country trek has me hoping the prices stay somewhat sane. Draplin made it through the traffic jam we call Yellowstone national park, and updated the world on the Crazy Horse Monument.

With Yellowstone in mind and less than two weeks before I hear back on the CDS Book Project. Thought I would post up some night images from Yellowstone. Taken on a quick night trip from Bozeman to the Park under a partial full moon. Waiting hours for the moonlight to hit lower falls. Only to reach 3am and realize the earths rotation was about 50ft off full-filling my dream. Packed up the grear and drove to old faithful. First time in the park I never saw a car or animal. Quiet, like erie quiet.

A midnight tour of Yellowstone National Park under the full moon is a manditory people. Highly recommended. Even checked with the officials. “What is open to the public during the day, is open to the public at night. Just don’t go off trail, please. And explain to me what you are trying to photograph at night ?”

The featured photographs are from the the mentioned night back in June. First of the two is of the canyon walls and the night sky. A heads turn from Lower Falls in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. The second image shows the erupting old faithful at 5am. Not a soul to witness but myself and distant buffalo, peaceful, quiet, and cold. How it should be.
